During the fall 2004 semester, 110 National Merit Scholars, 41 National Acheivement Scholars, and 175 Hispanic Scholars enrolled at Florida State University. The middle 50 percent SAT score for freshmen is 1070-1260.

With a total of 38,886 students enrolled in Fall 2004, the student body is comprised of roughly 75% undergraduate, 20% graduate and 5% unclassified. Women account for 56.7 % of the enrollment, and minorities comprise 24.2 % of total enrollment. Students from all 50 states and the District of Columbia, as well as dozens of countries, are represented.
